NiSi ATHENA PL-RF Drop-In Lens Mount Adapter Filmmaker Kit for PL Lens to Canon RF Camera

Overview

The NiSi ATHENA PL-RF Drop-In Lens Mount Adapter Filmmaker Kit puts PL-mount cinema lenses on a Canon RF camera and lets you slot filters in behind the lens instead of in front of it. It suits filmmakers who shoot ATHENA PRIME or other PL glass on mirrorless and digital cinema bodies that have no built-in ND.

The kit adds a True Colour ND-Vario drop-in filter for variable exposure control and a Black Mist 1/8 drop-in filter for softer highlights, alongside the Clear filter and a filter bag for storage. The slot also takes the wider ATHENA drop-in range, including True Colour VND, True Colour CPL, Allure Streak and FS ND.

Drop-In Filter System

Because the filter sits between the lens and the camera, one set of drop-in filters covers every PL lens you own, whatever its front diameter, with no matte box, step-up rings or front filters to deal with. Swapping a filter takes seconds. Gear teeth in the 0.8 MOD standard on the True Colour VND and CPL filters let a wireless lens control motor (not included) adjust strength or polarisation mid-shot, hands off the camera.

Included Filters

• Clear: a plain drop-in filter for shooting with no effect on the image
• True Colour ND-Vario: a 1 to 5-stop variable ND that stays free of colour casts, handy for keeping a wide aperture and 180° shutter in daylight
• Black Mist 1/8: softens highlights and takes the digital edge off skin and specular detail

Build & Fit

• 304 stainless steel front and rear mounts that stand up to repeated lens changes
• Sealing ring at the camera mount against dust and moisture
• Infinity focus with a filter fitted, as the adapter allows for the filter in the light path
• Fits the whole PL-mount ATHENA PRIME range and most other PL lenses, with rear elements protruding up to 25.8mm
• Light 207 g body without a filter, so it adds little to a gimbal or handheld rig
• Cage or top plate close to the mount can block filter changes or stop the adapter being fitted with a filter in; remove the filter, mount the adapter, then slide the filter back in
